Here is an example of Microsoft just not getting it.

This page is a constellation of asterisks!  Even after “Now available on the Web”.

First it’s ugly. Second, as a consumer, I’ve been trained to take an asterisk as basically an indication of “previous sentence is basically false.”

Also, the notes very frequently DO NOT MAKE SENSE in context of what they are noted to.  *** is completely senseless, since this is for a paid service why include a note about their free service’s limitations here?

** is a reasonable note except the text on the page makes it clear enough and the note isn’t necessary.

* is about five notes in one, the only important one being that you can’t use it on the 360 without xbox live gold (which is nonsense and bumps the cost of the subscription up significantly).
